You may soon be able to make your own online document bank

A day after the state government launched the e-Registration scheme for leave licence agreements, it has said it plans to create an online depository of sorts for storing citizens' documents. This will mean citizens can upload their documents online and then use the same when they need to obtain any certificate from the state or taluka level officials.

"It will be like a profile of the citizen, where s/he can upload all his/her documents and use them wherever needed. The documents won't be in physical form, but in scanned form," said an official of the IT department.

"When a citizen goes to seek a certificate from the government, s/he has to submit certain documents. Instead of the headache of carrying a set of documents every time a certificate is sought, the applicant can scan and upload all the documents concerned on the profile created and then submit them online wherever required. Also, the same scanned documents, which will be verified, can be used as supporting documents while seeking some other certificate."

The official, however, added that the plan is still in the preliminary stage and several modalities are yet to be worked out.

The idea is to reduce citizens' interface with officials and ensure transparency.

The state has already ensured that certificates are made available at the click of a mouse. On Thursday, the revenue department launched the e-Registration scheme, wherein citizens can register their leave licenses agreement or the first sale agreement with their builder online. Citizens don't need to go to the office of the sub-registrar to register the same.
