Youngsters paint murals, beautify Thane station wall with their artwork

Thane is a beautiful city overflowing with rich biodiversity, natural resources, history and culture. Such a city needs to an impressive gateway. Keeping this in mind, youth from Social Unity Care Foundation painted the Thane railway station with beautiful pictures and motifs.

The dirty paan-splattered walls of Thane station are being replaced with beautiful pictures and scenes by the young members of this foundation. There are paintings on subjects of social interest like importance of farmers, significance of water for humanity, etc. A mural celebrating the passing of 163 years since the first train-a stream engine, ran from Boribunder to Thane, has also been painted.

Social issues like environment conservation, changing the face of Thane, importance of social work, etc are the themes represented in the artwork painted by these enthusiastic students.

Their work was appreciated by Thane's guardian minister Eknath Shinde, who visited the station on Monday. " Through their creativity and hard work, these youngsters have started the work of beautifying Thane station. But keeping our city beautiful and clean is everyone's responsibility," said Shinde.

After viewing the artwork, Shinde also paid a surprise visit to the waiting room at the station. "There was foul odour emanating from the room and he called the station master as well as the contractor responsible for the cleanliness of the room. He asked the contractor to take immediate steps to keep the room clean in the next four days or he will speak to the railways and cancel his contract."says a source from Shinde's office
