Even as support for the anti-corruption crusader, Anna Hazare, continues to swell, a youth group has taken up the mission to educate protesters about the nitty-gritty of the Lokpal Bill.
These youth, members of the Pune-based Parivartan, started disseminating information about the Bill on Thursday. Ketan Paranjape, a member of the group, said the initiative was taken by them after they realised the “poor knowledge” about the Bill among the protesters.
“We have interacted with the protesters from the start of the massive agitation on August 16 and realised that about 90% of them had no idea about the Lokpal Bill, or the difference between the government draft and Team Anna’s draft of the Bill,” he said.
People had a vague idea that this Bill was to fight corruption.
The youth got a huge flexboard printed, enumerating the difference between the government’s draft and the draft made by Team Anna.
“We will be talking to the people and enlightening them about this. Once the people come to know about the Lokpal Bill, we will give them a badge certifying them as Lokpal literates,” said
Indranil Sadagle, another member.
The group intends to visit colleges and schools and speak on the topic.
