There is some good news for parents getting ready for their daughter’s marriage. The government of Assam has introduced a scheme for the parents which will lighten their burden to some extent. Under the Arundhati Gold Scheme, parents are given a 10gm gold coin for free on their daughter's marriage.
What is Arundhati Gold Scheme and how to get it?
The Assam government offers 1-tola gold to brides belonging to families with annual earnings of less than Rs 5 lakh. The Arundhati Gold Scheme will also be applicable to the first two offsprings of a family. Under the Arundhati Gold Scheme, married daughters, after registration of marriage, are entitled to 10gm of gold. This will go a long way to help poor parents cope with the expenses of weddings. This also gives some financial security to daughters. Daughters can apply on the day of applying for registration of Marriage under the Special Marriage Act, 1954.
Condition to avail Arundhati Gold Scheme
Parents who are getting their daughters married can avail this Arundhati Swarna Yojana scheme but they have to fulfil certain conditions. The age of the daughter who is getting married should be at least 18 years and the groom must be at least 21 years old. The registration of the marriage is also mandatory.
The scheme can be availed only by those families whose annual income is less than Rs 5 lakh. The scheme could be availed only for the first marriage.
Both the bride and the groom must have passed at least HSLC or equivalent Except Tea Tribe including Adivasi communities of the State.
No minimum educational qualification is required in the case of Tea Tribe including Adivasi communities for the next five years, as most of the Tea Gardens in the State of Assam do not have High School facility.
