The second DA hike of the year under the 7th Pay Commission rules is likely to get the Union Cabinet nod after the G20 Summit in New Delhi on September 9-10.

7th Pay Commission latest news: With over a crore central government employees and pensioners eagerly awaiting the second Dearness Allowance hike of 2023, there’s a significant update on the announcement timeline.

As per earlier reports, the official announcement of DA hike under the 7th Pay Commission rules could get the Union Cabinet nod after the G20 Summit in New Delhi on September 9-10. According to a latest report, the DA hike may be announced by the Central Government in the third week of September.

The Centre is likely to present a 3 percent DA hike this time around, despite some reports suggesting another 4 percent hike in the offing. The central employees can expect this announcement to be made in the third week of the month, a Ministry of Finance official told India.com.

Earlier, a senior functionary on the employees’ side had explained why only a 3 percent DA hike is expected.

“The CPI-IW for June 2023 was released on July 31, 2023. We are demanding a four percentage point hike in dearness allowance. But the dearness allowance hike works out to be a little over three percentage points. The government does not factor in hiking DA beyond the decimal point. Thus DA is likely to be increased by three percentage points to 45 per cent,” All India Railwaymen Federation General Secretary Shiva Gopal Mishra told PTI last month.

The second round of DA hike for the year will be effective from July 1, 2023. The total figure for DA is expected to reach 45 percent for central government employees. Pensioners receive DR (Dearness Relief).
