Here's how you can update mobile number, address on Aadhaar card

If you want to correct your address or your official mobile number at the localised Aadhaar Kendra centre, then you would need this form.

The Aadhaar card issuing entity the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been very active on Twitter recently and has been informing all the cardholders about the process to fill the certificate for corrections in the Aadhaar card.

For example, if you want to correct your address or your official mobile number at the localised Aadhaar Kendra centre, then you would need this form. It is a given fact that Aadhaar is one of the most important documents that one can carry and that is why it is essential to keep it up-to-date. 

So, today let us tell you what you need to do while filing the certificate for Aadhaar corrections. 

What do you need to know?

The certificate for the Aadhaar update comes in two parts - the Residential details and the Certifier details. It is important to fill in the accurate information in the same. 

  1. Print out the certificate on a white paper 
  2. Use Capital letters only to fill in the details. Avoid using stylised writing.
  3. Use only a blue or black ballpoint pen. Don't use a pencil or an ink pen.
  4. Use tick marks to fill in options that you want and leave the others blank.
  5. Avoid writing at the edge of the boxes. Try to write in the middle. 
  6. If something does not apply to you, leave it blank, don't write 'NA'.

Instructions to fill the Resident Section 

  1. Fill in the date in 'DD-MM-YYYY' format. Make sure the certificate is submitted 3 months prior to the date of issue. 
  2. In the 'Resident Category' specify if you are an Indian citizen or an NRI. 
  3. In 'Enrolment Type', specify if you are updating an existing Aadhaar card or applying for a new one. 
  4. In the 'Aadhaar number' section, only provide the card number if you are getting an update. If you are issuing a new card, leave the space blank. 
  5. In residential details, start by filling in your name as mentioned on the Aadhaar card (if updating).
  6. Sign the specified box or provide a thumb or finger impression 
  7. Attach a colour photo of size 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm

Other Residential Details 

Other things you need to mention - House number, building or apartment name, street name, road, and lane as per the address, landmark near address, area/locality/sector, village/town/city, nearest post office, district of address, state, area pin code, date of birth. 

Instructions to fill the Certifier Section 

  1. Provide the name of the certifier along with their designation and office name. 
  2. Fill in the details of office address and department name along with contact information. 
  3. Mention the 'kind' of certifier by ticking the right box. You can choose from various options such as Gazetted Officer, Village Panchayat Head or Mukhiya, Tehsildar, EPFO Officer, among others. 
  4. Finish the cheklist. 
  5. Get it signed and stamped by the certifier.
