For those who don't have legitimate documentation for address proof, here is a step-by-step guide on how to change your address.

Aadhaar card has become an essential part of our life, and it is required for practically all forms of identification in India. The digital verification and information update facility has made the process much easier.

People who want to update their address can do that by logging to UIDAI's official website, uidai.gov.in, and choosing "Update your Aadhaar" from the "My Aadhaar" option.

After clicking on ‘Update Demographics Data Online,' you will be taken to a webpage with two options for updating your address: ‘Update Address with Address Proof' and ‘Update Address via Secret Code.'

If you have legitimate documentation for address proof, you can choose the first choice, but for those who don't, you can use the second option.

According to the UIDAI, this can be completed by using an address verifier to submit an address validation letter online. You can only update your address if you match specific criteria. These are the following:

  • Both the Resident's and the Address Verifier's mobile numbers should be registered to their respective Aadhaar numbers.
  • The Address Verifier must be approved before it can be used in an address database.

The steps for updating your Aadhaar card without any documents are as follows:

  1. Enter the verifier's Aadhaar in the section titled "Update Address via Secret Code." An SRN (Service Request Number) will be assigned to you.
  2. The verifier will be needed to check in with his or her Aadhaar and provide his or her authorization by clicking on the link he or she will receive.
  3. After that, you will receive a second SMS with an OTP, which you must fill out, as well as the captcha and validate. You will receive the Service Request Number (SRN) through SMS once it has been validated.
  4. You must log in with the specified SRN, review the address, update it, and submit a request after receiving confirmation for the permission granted by the verifier.
  5. The Secret Code is included in the Address Validation Letter that you receive in the letter. Log into the SSUP Portal and use the Secret Code to update your address. Examine the new address before submitting your last request. You will be given a URN that you may use to check the status later.
