UIDAI will open 166 more stand-alone Aadhaar enrollment and update centres in 122 cities across the country to ease the process.

In the coming days, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will open 166 more stand-alone Aadhaar enrollment and update centres in 122 cities across the country to ease the process. This will help people to apply for a new Aadhaar card or get their existing Aadhaar card updated more easily.

According to UIDAI, Model Aadhaaar Seva Kendras will have the capacity to handle over 1,000 enrolments and update requests per day. Model B Aadhaaar Seva Kendras will have up to 500 enrolments and update requests per day and Model C Aadhaaar Seva Kendras will have up to 250 enrolments and update requests per day.

The increase in Aadhaar Kendras will mean hassle-free working and ease for customers. At present, there are  52,000 Aadhaar enrolment centres run by banks, post offices and state governments. "UIDAI plans to open 166 stand-alone Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Centres in 122 cities across the country," the statement said.

These Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) are open on all days of the week and are operational from 9 AM to 5:30 PM.

How to apply for Aadhaar card

To apply for a new Aadhaar Card, you need to visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre near you. At the enrolment centre, you need to fill a form, submit your biometric details along with documents required for the verification of proof of identity and the proof of address.

How to update existing Aadhaar card

You can update your Address online in Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). For other details updates such as Demographic details (Name, Address, DoB, Gender, Mobile Number, Email) as well as Biometrics (Finger Prints, Iris & Photograph) in Aadhaar you will have to visit Permanent Enrolment Center.
