The EPF deposits interest money into the PF accounts of paid employees. However, it is often observed that PF account users have trouble obtaining information regarding their PF status.
EPFO is allowing consumers to find out about their PF balance by a missed call from their verified mobile number in order to rectify this issue.
EPFO has also posted a tweet on purpose to share this news to PF users. "Get your #PF Balance details by simply sending a missed call on 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number," EPFO wrote in a tweet.
EPFO's service is completely free. EPFO account holders can also SMS 7738299899 by writing EPFOHO in the message box of their registered mobile phone if they want optional convenience. The text message should be typed as "EPFOHO UAN". This service is offered in ten different Indian languages. However, this service has not yet been activated.
Users can also review your PF balance digitally on the EPFO website as an alternative to the missed call option. To do so, first log on to the EPFO user site at https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login and register. You may examine the information of your passbook after logging in with your UAN and password.
Due to the greater withdrawal and relatively low contribution by users as a result of the Corona outbreak, EPFO has kept the rate of interest at only 8.5% for the fiscal year 2020-21.
Following a significant spike in corona infection cases last year, the EPFO lowered the interest rate for 2020-21 to 8.5%, down from 8.65% in 2018-19. After the 2012-13 fiscal year, this is EPFO's lowest interest rate.
