How to withdraw cash via UPI Apps

Withdraw cash from ATMs using UPI apps. Here is a step-by-step guide and also know the limits and benefits

UPI-ATM, known as the Interoperable Cardless Cash Withdrawal (ICCW) service, assists customers in conveniently accessing cash from various participating banks' ATMs without the requirement of their physical cards. The only thing that you need to carry is your smartphone. It is necessary to use a UPI app enabled for ATM transactions to withdraw cash.

The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has approved UPI-enabled withdrawal, and now you do not have to worry about carrying your debit cards everywhere, as per the MySmartPrice report. They also conducted a test in Mumbai’s ATM for cardless withdrawal, which reportedly showed that it was much more complicated than the traditional card process.

However, after a few trials, it was established that withdrawing cash from ATMs via UPI Apps was easier than using debit cards. Here are the steps how you can use UPI Apps to withdraw cash.

How to use UPI apps to withdraw cash from ATMs?

Step 1: When a customer chooses the 'UPI cash withdrawal' option at the ATM, they will be asked to enter the amount they wish to withdraw.
Step 2: Once the customer enters the withdrawal amount, a unique dynamic QR code (signed) will appear on the ATM screen.
Step 3: To proceed with the transaction, the customer must use any UPI app to scan this QR code.
Step 4: Following the scan, the customer is required to authorize the transaction by entering their UPI PIN on their mobile device using the UPI app to access the cash from the ATM.

Note: It may take about 30 seconds to process your transaction, therefore, do not panic if it gets delayed.

UPI-ATM cash withdrawal transaction limit

A customer can withdraw a maximum amount of Rs 10,000 along with the existing limits of daily UPI transactions and terms of the specific bank.  The user should note that such limits differ from one bank to another.

Benefits of UPI-ATM cash withdrawal

This facility is a very convenient way of withdrawing cash as you do not have to carry physical cards. This service is available across most banks and ATMs supporting the UPI platform. Another benefit is that, in case you still have not received your physical card after opening a new account, you can easily use this facility to withdraw money.
