Since the daily functioning of a person depends majorly on their Aadhaar card, losing it can be a major inconvenience and can put a halt to several services availed by them. If you have lost your Aadhaar card and UIN, you can still get your Aadhaar number online!

If you wish to access your Aadhaar number online in case of misplacement, you must have your mobile number linked with UIDAI and your Aadhaar card. Your number must also be active and should be capable of sending and receiving SMS.

How to retrieve Aadhaar number online

  • Visit the official website of UIDAI, resident.uidai.gov.in.
  • Scroll down to the ‘Aadhaar services’ section.
  • Under the section, click on the 'Recover Lost or Forgotten EID/UID' tab.
  • You will be redirected to a new page. Click on the ‘Aadhaar number (UID)’ option.
  • Enter your personal information, such as your name, registered mobile number, or email address.
  • Insert the captcha and click on the ‘Send OTP’ option on the page.
  • Enter the 6-digit OPT received on your registered mobile number.

One also has the option of downloading an e-copy of your Aadhaar card through the UIDAI portal. You can select the ‘Get Aadhaar’ option on the online portal and get an email with your digital Aadhaar card, after making small fee payment.

If your number is not linked with UIDAI and Aadhaar card, then you will have to retrieve your Aadhaar number manually, by visiting the Aadhaan centre and filling out the required application forms for the same.
