Two students of Khandala-based Kohinoor Business School lost their lives after the bike, they were travelling on, collided with a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus in Lonavla on Wednesday.

Two students of Khandala-based Kohinoor Business School lost their lives after the bike, they were travelling on, collided with a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus in Lonavla on Wednesday.

The incident took place when the duo was travelling from Pune to Khandala to go to their institute to give their exam.

The mishap took place near Hotel Central Park in Lonavla around 9.30 am. The deceased have been identified as Raunak Nambiar (23), a resident of Yerawada in Pune and Devavrat Kalar (23), a resident of Borivali in Mumbai. They were pursuing Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) degree from the institute.

Inspector Vishnu Pawar of Lonavla city police said, “While overtaking a vehicle, their bike entered the opposite lane and came in front of a state transport bus and thus had a head-on collision.”

The bus was operating on Thane-Loni Wadgaon Pir route. It had left from Thane on Wednesday early morning and had halted at Lonavla ST stand for a while. After the halt, the bus was heading towards Pune when the mishap took place. The police have detained the bus driver Tabaji Ghode.
