After the hike in railway fares announced by Railways Minister Dinesh Trivedi, which came into effect from April 1, travellers who had booked their tickets earlier need to pay the extra fare for the ticket to be held valid.

Railway officials informed that the Pune division of the Central Railway has opened Window No 29 at Pune railway station for passengers to pay the additional amount on their tickets. Alternately, travellers can also pay this difference fare to the ticket checking staff during the journey.

Union railway ministry, after facing flak for hike in fares, rolled back the hike for the sleeper class. However, the fare hike for first and second class remained unchanged. Despite increased fares, many families are known to travel due to the summer vacations. Many travel to cooler places in north India.
