The citizens experienced some relief from the scorching heat on Wednesday as clouds gathered in the afternoon resulting in dip in the maximum temperature.

The maximum temperature was 39.1 degrees on Tuesday which went down to 37.7 degrees on Wednesday. The cloudy weather also led to slight increase in the minimum temperature. The minimum was 23.3 degrees on Tuesday, but rose to 23.7
degrees on Thursday.

According to a India Meteorological Department (IMD) official, “The cloud formation is a result of trough extending from Madhya Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu. The clouds do not allow the heat to penetrate during day and so the temperatures come down. During night, the clouds affect cooling negatively and the temperature increases.”

According to IMD, Marathwada and Vidarbha may experience showers due to the convective clouds. Weather will remain cloudy in most parts of the state. The maximum and minimum temperatures will remain between 38 degree and 24 degree for the next 24 hours but may rise gradually after that.

Rain or thundershowers are also likely in north-eastern states and south peninsular India.
