The road was dug up by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for storm water drains and has been left unattended since. A resident of Undri Road, Vijay Mainkar said “According to the road book manual, the contractor and the civic authorities are supposed to complete the work on the road. Devoid of street lights, the road is dangerous during the late hours.”

He said they are paying the price for living in the suburbs. “The road work has been pending for nearly a year despite repeated complaints to the engineers, ward officer and the commissioner,” he told DNA.

GS Mani, member of the NIBM Road Mohalla Committee said the lack of footpaths on the road adds to the woe. “The pedestrians too have to use the highly uneven road, as there are no footpaths,” Mani said.

Bibvewadi Ward Officer, Madhav Deshpande said, “I have complained to the road department about the problem. It is not my responsibility.”

Executive engineer of the road department, Satishchandra Ghume said the road will be repaired after the monsoon, “After laying the storm water drains, we have to let the pipes and ground set. For this we have to let one monsoon pass. But as a temporary solution, the road will be levelled within eight days.”
