Here is a good news for all the fans of actor Sanjay Dutt. A fund-raising cultural event by Yerawada Central Jail wherein Dutt is performing, will be aired on Doordarshan on September 26. Dutt will be performing at the Balgandharva Rangamandir auditorium along with 50 other inmates.
Confirming dna, additional director general (state prison) Meeran Chadha Borwankar said, “Doordarshan will air the programme but we do not have an idea about the duration of the telecast.” Chief minister Prithiviraj Chavan and home minister RR Patil will be present at the event.
Jail superintendent Yogesh Desai of Yerawada jail told dna, “The officials of Doordarshan held a meeting with us a few days ago and spoke about the plan.” The state prisons department has planned the fund-raising event for the welfare of prison department employees and their family.
A senior jail official told dna,”We have tried to rope in some prominent figures from Bollywood and Marathi film industry. The two-hour long event will start at 4 pm on September 26. It will depict various cultural aspects of the state. The script has been written by the prisoners and approved by top brass officials of the department.”
When asked about the actor’s security at the auditorium, officer added, “We have made adequate security arrangements for the programme. The performers will be brought to the venue amid tight security and will be taken back to the jail soon after the event.”
