KG student hurt as school bus driver slams brakes

A 4-year-old boy was severely injured on Tuesday as the school bus driver slammed brakes bringing bus to a sudden halt. On Tuesday, when Yadnesh Khedkar, studying in senior kg section of Sinhagad springdale school, Wadgaon, was returning home from school, the driver suddenly brought the bus to a halt.As he fell down, his tongue got stuck between his teeth leading to a hole in his tongue. However, instead of rushing Yadnesh to a doctor or informing his parents, the lady attendant on the bus dismissed the injury as a minor one.

But, after an hour when Yadnesh reached home, his father gauged the seriousness of the injury and rushed him to a nearby hospital.He was taken to Chinmay Hospital where he was administered with six stitches in his tongue. The child's father, Ulhas Khedkar, a sales representative, approached Dattawadi police station and filed a written complaint, asking for the school representatives to look into the matter.
The police said that they were looking into the matter and appropriate action would be taken after investigation.More than a dozen members of Patit Pavan Sanghatna were present at the station to convince the police to take an action against the school management terming the matter as gross negligence on the part of school. Maruti Navale of Springdale Society,said he will talk to the principal of the school and then get back. Later, however, he refused to provide any more information.
