Pune: As the monsoon in Pune continues to be subdued, the water levels in the dams which provide water to Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad continues to go down.
Anticipating that the water crisis will go from bad to worse, the Pimpri Chichwad Municipal Corporation has decided to shut down ten of its swimming pools from Sunday in order to save as much water as they can save. PCMC is set to shut down ten swimming pools till further notice.
Approximately 12,000 liters of water is used by every pool on a daily basis when swimmers take pre and post swimming showers. These showers are made mandatory to maintain the hygiene of the pool by health authorities. Likewise, approximately 1,20,000 liters of water is used. Due to the ongoing water crisis the civic body has taken decision of shutting down all its pools.
Only recently, PCMC also has imposed water cuts on citizens. It has urged citizens to use water judiciously by not wasting drinking water.
Following PCMC run pools are going to be shut :
Nehrunagar tank Yamunanagar Tank,
Thergaon tank, Nigdi Pradhikaran Tank,
Bhosari Tank, Mohannagar Tank,
Chinchwadgaon Tank, Sangvi Tank,
Pimpale Gurav Tank Kasarwadi Tank
