The camps will be held during the 10 holy days of Jains, collectively called Parushan.

PFA has been working for issues like cruelty against animals and in the next 10 days, they will make people understand the concept of veganism and how it prevents hurting animals.

To promote veganism across the Pune city, People for Animals (PFA) will be campaigning for a period of 10 days and hold awareness camps also for the same. The camps will be held during the 10 holy days of Jains, collectively called Parushan that will be conducted at 12 Jain temples located in Swargate and Pimpri.

PFA has been working for issues like cruelty against animals and in the next 10 days, they will make people understand the concept of veganism and how it prevents hurting animals.

Speaking with iamin, Rajesh Patel, volunteer of PFA said, "Jainism teaches non violence against living beings, especially animals. It is therefore apt to spread awareness on veganism during these 10 days."

People following veganism will also be conducting lectures in the camps. "Some teachers will be coming from outside India to promote messages of non violence against animals. People know about the cruelty that takes place in slaughter houses, but not many know that cows get hurt even when milked. We expect this camp will convert many into veganism" added Patel.

Pune has many other vegan groups apart from PFA. "Though these camps are held in Jain temples, they are not restricted to any religion. These are open for everyone interested in knowing more about an animal-friendly lifestyle," he said.
