A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus suffered major damage after it caught fire at Shivajinagar on Friday evening. The incident took place after a four-wheeler hit the bus from rear.
The driver of the car and her daughter were rushed to nearby hospital as they had suffered serious injuries.
With 100 passengers boarded on the bus with registration number (MH-12-HB-1238), it was going toward Pimpri, when the Ford Figo with registration number (MH-12-HV-3616), hit it from rear. The impact was such that the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) pipe was damaged. The passengers got down from the bus when they noticed that black smoke was billowing from the CNG pipe. None of the passengers were hurt.
The fire brigade reached the spot within 15 minutes and it took more than 20 minutes for the team of five fire-fighter to bring the fire under control.
Sai Baba Balkrishna Jilhewar, station duty officer, Kasba Peth said,”The impact of the accident was such that two valve pipes got damaged, due to which the gas started leaking and the bus caught fire.
