PMPML bus knocked down bank employee
The PMPML bus plying on Sadhu Vaswani road lost control over his bus and rammed over 35-year-old woman bank employee and two other women on Saturday morning at the bus stop. One woman has been killed on the spot while two women sustained injuries. The bus driver has been arrested and earlier he was involved in seven such road accident cases.
Deceased has been identified as Gita Balashaheb Mugase (35), a resident of Alandi Kedgoan while two other women injured have been identified as Sushma More (27), from Dapodi and Madhuri Chinchore (23), from Daund were rushed to hospital. The incident came to light, when injuried Sushma lodged a complaint with Bund Garden police station against the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus driver Mublak Abdul Rahim Shaikh (47), a resident of Bhawani peth.
Soon after the new of Gita's death come to light, many colleagues rushed to Sassoon General hospital.
Deceased Gita's relative Dilip said, "Gita was working in Bank of Barode's Rasta peth branch after her husband's death she had got his job. Two months back she had lost her 18-year-old son in a mishap and younger daughter is 14-year-old old who is a school student."
Sharad Ugle inspector-incharge of Bund Garden police station said, "The incident took place around 9.30 am at Sadhu Vaswani chowk. The three women were waiting at the bus stop and the bus plying by Shaikh from Pune station to Kondhwa lost control on his bus and dashed three ladies. The bus driver claims that the accident took place due to break fail. We have arrested him."
He added, "Madhuri who is from Daund and work in nearby shop has received head injuries and undergoing a treatment at Sassoon General hospital while Sushma had received injuries on her hands and leg. She is work in Dapodi based company and was waiting for her bus to arrive when this accident took place."
Soon after the arrest the bus driver Shaikh prayed to police to leave him for a day as on Sunday it was his daughter's wedding. When brought to police station he said, "My daughter's wedding is on Sunday and my colleague had informed me to take leave for her marriage preparation. If I would have listen to them this accident would be avoided."
In the meantime PMPML bus issues a press release which mentioned, Shaikh has been working with PMPML for last 21 years. As per his road accident earlier there were seven road accident cases registered against him of which four were mutually settled. On the bases of past record on two such occassion Shaikh has undergone refreshment training. Thou Shaikh claimed that breaks were failed but the bus was inspected and found that there was no break fail but poor air pressure has been found. We have constituted a inquiry on this regard and within 15 days the reports will be concluded."
