The organisers of the 87th Marathi literary meet have extended an invitation to superstar Rajinikanth, who is from Mavdi Kade Pathar village of Purandar taluka.

The letter sent by the organisers was released to select media persons on Monday. There is no response from the superstar yet on the invitation sent to him, said Vijay Kolate, chairman of the reception committee for the meet.

The 87th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan would be held at Saswad in taluka Purandar, around 35 km from here between January 3 and 5, 2014.

Kolate said a letter inviting Rajinikanth was sent on December 18. The former sarpanch of Mavdi Kade Pathar, Hanumant Chachar had met the superstar two years ago at Lonavla. Chachar had met Rajinikanth with some members from Gaikwad families from Rajinikanth’s native village as he hails from the Gaikwad family. The superstar had asked Chachar what he could do for them and the reply was a request to visit the village at least once.
