Voters' registration drive gets positive response

Almost 15,000 new voters enlisted in the new published list in Bhosari and Pimpri

The voters registration drive has been receiving favourable response in Pimpri and Bhosari, with nearly 15,000 new voters registering their names from these assembly constituencies.

The district administration had started the voters’ registration drive in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad and other rural parts of the district, to help new voters to register their name in the new published list. The month-long drive will end on October 25.

In Pimpri constituency, as many as 11,936 new voters registered their names, while 1,703 made changes in address or names etc. As many as 83 people requested their names to be deleted and 707 had applied for shifting their names to other constituency list, informed election officer of Pimpri Dr Yashwant Mane.

The voters registration officer Sahebrao Gaikwad informed that in Bhosari constituency nearly 3,000 new voters registered their names, while 720 people deleted their names. About 125 applied for changes in names or address and 50 applied for shifting names to other constituency lists.

According to government officials, the voters who enlisted themselves in the newly published list, will be able to cast their votes in the forthcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
The officials added that there are 21 assembly constituencies in Pune city, Pimpri Chichwad and rural parts. Out of them, 11 constituencies are located in urban areas of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. After the completion of the registration drive, the process of scrutinising each application will start. And names of eligible applicants will also be added to the voters’ list. The final draft list is expected to be published by in the first week of January 2014.

How to apply
The citizens can visit the nearest voting booths for registration.
For registration of name the applicant will have to fill up Form-6 and provide documents proving age, residence and identity.
For raising objections on inclusion of names or seeking deletion of names.

For correction or changes, applicants have to fill Form 8.
