Move follows resolution of Gram Sabha in Ralegan Siddhi

Youngsters scored over the police department and surprised the administration by protesting during chief minister Prithviraj Chavan’s speech at Ahmednagar. They showed him black flags in support of social worker Anna Hazare’s indefinite fast for passage of the Lokpal Bill.

It was decided during the Gram Sabha at Ralegan Siddhi on Thursday that Anna supporters would show black flags to Chavan whenever he addresses a meeting for the Nationalist Congress Party-Congress combine for the Ahmednagar civic elections.

A heavy police force was deployed at Gandhi ground in Ahmednagar where Chavan, deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, ministers Balasaheb Thorat and Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil were present.

Anna’s followers were detained by the police before the meeting. When Chavan started speaking, suddenly 10 to 15 young boys and girls stood up, unfolded black flags and showed them to Chavan. They gave slogans in favour of passage of Lokpal Bill.

The chief minister assured the protesters that the Lokpal Bill would be passed in the current session of Parliament.
