Belgian child prodigy Laurent Simons wants to be able to replace as many body parts as possible with mechanical parts to make immortality a reality.

A kid aged 11 from a small coastal town in Belgium has become the world’s second-youngest graduate on record. Laurent Simons completed his bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Antwerp.

Moreover, while most of us achieve this feat when we are ten years older than Simons and usually take three years to earn our degree, the child genius did it in just a year.

Simons though, is not one chasing records. “I don't really care if I'm the youngest. It's all about getting knowledge for me,” he told the Dutch daily De Telegraaf.

Simons wants to make immortality a reality.

"I want to be able to replace as many body parts as possible with mechanical parts. I’ve mapped out a path to get there. You can see it as a big puzzle. Quantum physics – the study of the smallest particles – is the first piece of the puzzle," he said.

Simon now wants to “work with the best professors in the world, look inside their brains, and find out how they think."

The young prodigy completed his high school in only a year and a half and received his diploma at age 8.

His interest in classical mechanics and quantum physics is a year old but his obsession with the topic has made him place all other projects on hold and solely focus on achieving immortality.
