Octozone: Sachin Tendulkar will bow out in style

Written By Greenstone Lobo | Updated:

Sir Donald Bradman finished off with a duck, Sir Vivian Richards signed off with 2 and 60, Imran Khan made 22 and nought. Our own Sunil Gavaskar ended scored 21 and 96 but India went on to lose the match. Many a legend has had forgettable outings in his last Test. Not Sachin Tendulkar!

‘Aapla Sachin’ will not just end up on the winning side in his 200th and final Test, but he will also have a significant role to play in India’s victory.

Tendulkar has a rare horoscope, one with few very lows. Except for that odd lean patch, he has had a glittering career. The man who has done India proud, the man who made the cricketing world come to a standstill and the man who carried the expectations of a billion people will give himself a perfect farewell gift — a win!

Saturn will ensure that Mumbai’s favourite son will go with his head held high. A good half century, or even a hundred in a winning cause, is a possibility. He may even get a wicket, or play an important role in the fall of one.

Tendulkar, who is arguably the greatest batsman of all time, will not walk into the sunset.

Whatever has unfolded in his life thus far is just one half of the story. Brand Sachin will continue to soar and the maestro will live an even grander life after retirement. His role in the development of various sports in the country, his role as a youth icon and his role as a change agent as a politician are all yet to happen. The period between 2014 to 2035, when Sachin’s ruling planets — Planet X and Neptune — will hold fort. He will scale bigger peaks.
