IPL 8: Delhi Daredevils v/s Sunrisers Hyderabad: Cliffhanger ends in 4-run win for Delhi

There was little to choose between the two sides but Nathan Coulter-Nile's brilliant last over and Agarwal's great stop on the boundary made the difference. Delhi win by 4 runs.

A thriller of a game has resulted in Delhi Daredevils pulling off another close win. There was little to choose between the two sides but Nathan Coulter-Nile's brilliant last over and Agarwal's great stop on the boundary made the difference. Delhi win by 4 runs.

Over 20

OUT! Five were needed off the last ball, and Karn Sharma had hit another full ball down the ground. Only that he could not get the elevation and holed out to long on who took a neat catch. SRH lose by 3 runs!

What a stop!! Karn Sharma goes hammer and tongs over the off side to a full delivery outside off. It's almost gone for six, but Mayank Agarwal jumps high and parries it back in before he lands inside the fence. Just two runs. Amazing.

Just a single, slower full ball outside off, Praveen Kumar backs away but makes minimal contact for a single.

Yorker length again, slogged down the ground by Karn Sharma but just a single. 8 needed off 3 balls.

OUT! Ashish Reddy is ridiculously run out. Wide yorker outside off and Reddy can't get his bat to it. They run the single anyway. The keeper's throw doesn't hit the stumps but meets the bowler mid way on the pitch. He runs back to the bowler's end, beats Reddy in the run and flicks off the bails.

Karn Sharma backs away, Nile bowls a yorker. Karn tries to flick it behind the wicket. Can't beat short third man but they get a single.

Nathan Coulter-Nile will bowl the last over.

Over 19

Almost a yorker again, Reddy slogs it down the ground. Long on is slow to come in at SRH get two. 10 runs needed off the final over.

SIX! Clubbed over wide long on for six. Half-tracker from Mathews, nice pace and gets full treatment.

Oh dear, almost bowled, advances down the track and swings wildly across the line, gets nothing on it.

FOUR. Almost a yorker by Mathews, but Reddy gets his bat under it and slogs. There is no long off for some reason and he goes over mid off.

Hit over the off side, single to sweeper cover. Brings unknown Ashish Reddy on strike.

Swing and a miss. 23 needed off 11 balls.

Over 18

Swung into the leg side again, just a single this time. SRH 145/6 after 18. 16 off the over.

SIX! Another full ball on middle, and now slog swept for six in the same direction. Thrill a minute.

SIX! Karn Sharma swings Imran Tahir into the deep midwicket boundary for six.

Over 17

OUT! SRH are on the ropes now! Short, cuts back in, Eoin Morgan tries to cut hard, bowled and off stump goes for a walk. SRH 129/6 after 17 overs.

OUT! Huge wicket, the attacking Bopara is gone. This time he mistimes the shot and hits it straight to long off. SRH 128/5.

SIX. Friendly full ball outside off, tonked over the long off boundary for six.

Duminy bowls.

OUT! Yorker wide outside off, but Ojha merely manages to hit it straight to point, who took a good low catch. SRH 120/4.

Easy single to long on. 48 needed off 25 now.

SIX! Dismissed over long off for six. Ojha gave it everything though the timing was off.

Tahir to bowl.

Slower good length ball this time, on middle and off, Ojha uses his full power to hit it down the ground, but just a single. SRH 110/3 after 15 overs.

Short slower ball from Mathews, Ojha ducks. It was barely chest high if he'd stood up.

FOUR. Full just outside off and Ojha smashes it for four over cover.

Ojha drives Mathews to long on on the move, gets two.

Over 14

No run off the last ball, SRH 101/3 after 14.

SIX! LOL. Bopara goes over long on off a short, throat high ball. Front foot shot. The fielder on the fence jumps, gets his hand to the ball and then flies over the fence himself.

Swing and miss. Slower ball outside off, keeps a little low as well and Bopara misses a wild pull.

FOUR. Short ball just on off, swinging in, and pulled away for four by Bopara.

Driven straight to short mid off, no run.

Single to third man.

Naman Ojha is the new player. SRH 90/3 after 13 overs.

OUT! KL Rahul is bowled next ball. He moves a bit to off, tries to flick the ball from knee length, but it cannons into leg stump, which walks. SRH 89/3.

DROPPED. Rahul went for the jugular, the ball soared high into the air, Domnic Joseph at mid off misjudged the catch, dived and spilled it.

Slower good length ball on off, hit uppishly to long on for one.

Mathews to bowl.

Over 11

10 off the over, SRH 79/2 after 11.

SIX! Poor ball from Mishra, short and sits up for Rahul, who rocks back to pull it for six over deep midwicket.

Uppishly driven down the ground for one. SRH 69/2 after 10 overs.

SIX! KL Rahul breaks the shackles. Full ball on middle and off from Yuvraj. Rahul torpedoes it down the ground for six, and it goes high and well beyond the rope though it was not in the meat of the bat.

Yuvraj Singh comes on to bowl.

Driven through covers, sweeper cover cuts it off. SRH 59/2 after 9 overs.

Two runs off three balls so far.

Amit Mishra comes on to bowl. Delhi trying to choke Hyderabad with spin.

Great over, just 2 from it, SRH 55/2 after 8 overs.

Oh dear. Turn and bounce for Tahir, and Rahul played OUTSIDE the line because he expected it to turn more. Beaten and the keeper collects.

KL Rahul is the new batsman, Imran Tahir to bowl.

Three runs and two wickets off the over. SRH 53/2 after 7 overs.

OUT! Two in three balls and the openers are gone. Warner tries to drive, plays it a little too early and hits it back to Duminy who takes a good low catch.

OUT! Bowled! Dhawan plays back to a ball cutting in, gets the inside edge and is bowled.

FOUR. Another boundary. This time Warner beats mid off in his drive. SRH 50/0 after 6 overs.

FOUR. Another shimmy down the track and driven away again in the same manner.

FOUR. Down the track, Warner changes the good length to a full one and drives it through the covers for four.

Hit straight down the ground, so straight it smashes into the stumps at the other end.

FOUR. Scooped over extra cover for four.

Three boundaries off the over, SRH 32/0 after 5 overs.

FOUR. Dhawan backs away and cuts the ball through square on the off side for four.

FOUR. Dhawan late cuts for four, very cute shot.

Over 4

On leg stump. Flicked away into the deep by Warner for two. SRH 20/0 after 4 overs.

Domnic Joseph comes on.

Over 3

Warner tries to force another similar delivery wide of third man, but can't beat him. Two runs. SRH 17/0 after 3 overs.

Shortish ball just outside off and Dhawan plays it to third man for a single.

Into the pads, played away to the leg side for a single.

Over 2

Slapped into the covers, the fielder fumbles and SRH get a bonus single. 10/0.

Wide ball.

Variable bounce! Keeps low, Warner goes for a pull which he cannot connect at all. 

DD go for something unique. JP Duminy to share the new ball.

Over 1

Driven through the covers and the fielder cuts it off before it can make the fence. SRH 3/0 after 1 over.

Short ball, into the ribs and hits Shikhar Dhawan. I don't think he was wearing a guard. He's hurt. Taking time off.

A dive by Mayank Agarwal at short cover stops a certain boundary for David Warner.

Delhi Daredevils have reached 167/4. It was a well-controlled innings. Shreyas Iyer and JP Duminy's fifties ensured Delhi got to a competitive score. However, they would be sorry to have not scored a few more towards the last few overs. Probably a par score. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was excellent with the ball for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Over 20

FOUR. Bad luck for Kumar. Batsman got ready for the reverse sweep. Kumar fired it in outside leg stump, which had been converted into off stump by the batsman. The batsman then late cut it, while on the ground, for four! DD 167/4 after 20 overs.

Single into the on side again, 5 singles off the last over so far.

Low, fast full toss from Kumar, thrashed to deep midwicket but just a single.

Yorker, dug out well to short third by the retreating batsman. Two off two balls in this over.

Over 19

SIX! Now this was no mishit. Full toss gets pulled disdainfully over deep midwicket, way back into the 10th row or something. DD 158/4 after 19 overs.

SIX! Slower delivery from Kumar, Angelo tries to go straight down the ground and gets it on the top end. It STILL goes for six, just. These bats.

Kedar Jadhav backs away and slugs Praveen Kumar through the off side for one.

Over 18

Yorker. Dug out, Delhi get a single. 142/4 after 18.

Pulled hard, and the man at square leg is just unable to reach it. It bounced in front of him as he dived.

FOUR. Angelo Mathews pulls, the fielder dives on the boundary to stop the four. When the TV umpire is consulted, it seems he touched the fence as he dived.

Over 17

Just 4 off the over, and a wicket. DD 136/4 after 17 overs.

Kedar Jadhav is the new batsman.

OUT! Yuvraj is gone, he went for the pulled six over midwicket. The ball almost traveled the distance. The fielder timed his jump well to take it, the rope was very close.

Over 16

OUT! Duminy plays on in comical fashion. He moves way outside off and tries to flick behind the wicket. The ball is full, almost yorker length on middle and off. Duminy ends up hitting it onto his own stumps, two of which go flying.  DD 132/3.

Yuvi pulls hard into the on side and gets two.

SIX! Down the track, short ball and Duminy hits it very hard and flat over long on for six. 53 now for him in 39 balls.

Huge appeal for a run out, Yuvraj tapped the ball into the off side and took off. The stumps were dislodged at the non-striker's end. But he was safe, says the TV replay.

Over 15

SIX. Now a fuller ball, on off stump. Duminy swings it over long on for a clean six. DD 121/2 after 15 overs.

FOUR. Swung through midwicket again, this time the ball just sat up to be hit.

Huge appeal for caught behind, the ball slanted down leg. No wide called either, might have hit the thigh pad.

FOUR. Slower full ball, Duminy anticipated it and slogged it straight down the ground for four.

Pulled to deep midwicket for two.

Over 14

Good ball, good length on middle and Yuvi can do nothing with it. DD 106/2 after 14 overs.

Swinging away and hits Yuvi's pad high, Yuvi loses balance. Big appeal from Steyn but the ball was clearly pitching outside leg.

Just on the hips, Yuvraj pulls hard but doesn't time well. Out to fine leg for one.

Beaten outside off, Yuvraj drove on the backfoot even as the ball rose on him. 

Dale Steyn comes back, Yuvraj defends him first ball.

Over 12

DROPPED! Dropped first ball. Yuvraj chipped the ball in the air and to short midwicket, but the diving fielder could not make it.

Single to deep midwicket, Yuvraj Singh is the new batsman.

OUT! Slower ball just on off, Iyer plays a cross batted slog, it goes high in the air and is caught at short mid off. DD 93/2.

Praveen Kumar comes back, and gets flicked to the on side for one by Duminy.

Over 11

Single off the last ball, DD 92/1 after 11 overs.

SIX! Pitched up outside off, Iyer slams it over long on for six with disdain.

No runs off the last two balls. DD 80/1 after 10.

SIX! He goes again, flatter this time, Steyn jumps but cannot reach it. Iyer 51 off 32 balls.\

SIX! Smashed a long way. Full ball on middle, spins slightly, but Iyer slog-swings it over Dale Steyn at long on for six.

Shreyas pulls it into the leg side for one without conviction, 66/1 after 9 overs.

Wide ball. Way down leg side from Bopara, and it was also the slower one. Bounces away meekly to the keeper.

FOUR. On leg stump and flicked away to the fine leg boundary for four by Duminy.

The 'Double Ds' are 57/1 after 8 overs.

SIX! Down the track, and Iyer lofts Sharma over long off for a six. Danny Morrison goes crazy again in the box.

Outside off, Iyer gives it the full gun but misses. After 7 over, DD are 46/1.

Slower ball by Bopara, inside edged by Duminy and they run a quick single. There was a run out appeal on that one.

Yorker, single to mid on. DD 40/1 after 6.

SIX! Length ball just outside off, slammed for six into the stands over long on.

Down the track, cross batted No 10-like hoick, misses and the slower ball rolls to the keeper.

FOUR. Cross batted shot to a ball just short of good length. He got good connection on it despite the poor shot selection. Flies to long on and the fielder cannot reach.

Praveen Kumar is the new bowler. The batsman charges down the track but Praveen cuts him in half as the ball angles away for a wide.

Attempted yorker, biffed to midwicket. Good over from Kumar, DD 28/1 after 5 overs.

Short ball, Shreyas Iyer ducks into the bouncer.

Duminy misses another flick but the batsmen scamper a quick single off the leg bye.

Bhuvneshwar traps Duminy in front again, but once again, the ball pitched outside leg stump.

Tapped to the off side for one, Delhi 26/1 after 4 overs.

FOUR. Duminy drives on the backfoot, gets an edge which flies away from second slip for four!

Driven through the covers, one run.

Over 3

Driven down the ground, misfield by a diving mid off and DD get two more. 20/1 after 3 overs.

Two runs. On the pads, flicked away through square leg for two.

On leg stump, swings away, wide ball outside leg.

JP Duminy is the new batsman. He gets rapped on the pads first ball and there's an appeal, but the ball pitched outside leg.

OUT! Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets Manish Agarwal, hero of the last match, caught behind at first slip. Manish drove without much feet movement and the ball seamed away at the last moment.

Welcome to the live coverage of the match between Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The match is being played in Visakhapatnam. Delhi who broke a 11 match losing streak in their last outing will certainly look to continue their winning way in this away match. 

Delhi skipper JP Duminy won the toss and elected to bat first. They will be hoping that the likes of Imran Tahir and JP Duminy come in handy during the second innings. 

Sunrisers have decided to field an unchanged 11. Both teams have won 1 out of 3 matches so far in IPL 8.
