There have been several rumours about Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Italian club Juventus.
Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s all-time top goal-scorer with 451 goals. However, considering Real’s aim of reshaping after they finished `17 points behind table leaders and arch-rivals FC Barcelona in the 2017-18 La Liga season in addition with Ronaldo’s age, this news is believable.
The fact that French teenage sensation, Mbappe, is being linked to Real Madrid has made the Ronaldo rumour all the more strong. According to reports, Real Madrid are expecting an offer of about 100million euros (£88m) from Juventus.
According to a report from Spanish football website, Marca.com, Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid because he does not feel he is loved any longer.
If at all Juventus are planning to take him, it won’t be an easy transfer at all for them. Ronaldo’s wages could be a major hindrance here because they are four times what Higuain, their current highest earner, is being paid.
It is understood that Ronaldo has asked a significant pay rise that would keep him in line with the new deals handed to Neymar and Lionel Messi by PSG and Barcelona respectively.
Apparently, Juventus have offered Ronaldo a huge £26m-a-year contract – the same as Real’s final offer – for over four years, which meant he will be 37 by the time his contract expires.
Since Real has agreed to let Ronaldo go, several big clubs would aim to get him, however so far Juventus are the runaway favourites, with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, having used negotiations with the Italian side over Joao Cancelo’s £35m move to also discuss bringing Ronaldo to Turin.
