Khabib Nurmagomedov beat Conor McGregor to retain the UFC lightweight title when he sealed a brutal submission victory with a rear naked choke hold in the fourth round on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. 

The win prompted a mass brawl to break out in and around the cage, with a red-shirted fan landing several blows on McGregor before security intervened.

Both fighters were subsequently escorted from the arena by police and security.

In other matches, Tony Ferguson beat Anthony Pettis in another top bout in the lightweight category. Dominick Reyes scores his career-best win over Ovince Saint Preux in a three-round light heavyweight fight while Derrick Lewis knocked out Alexander Volkov in the heavyweight section.

So that's it then. 

Khabib Nurmagomedov is STILL the UFC lightweight champion. 

But the brawl after the fight will be more remembered than the fight today, with the commentators citing this as one of the worst ends of a fight they have ever seen.

Khabib dominated the bout and was able to put Conor into a submission with the Irishman tapping out in round 4. 

Khabib then jumped into the crowd in an attempt to fight a member of the crowd. Conor was then attacked by members of Khabib's team from behind. 

Khabib wasn't allowed to be given the belt, with Dana White telling the Russian that if he did, people would end up getting hurt. He was escorted out of the crowd with things being thrown at him by the crowd.

A brawl breaks out in the immediate aftermath of the result. After the tapout, Khabib climbs out the fence into the crowd and begins fighting McGregor’s team. A member of Khabib’s team climbs into the octagon and punches McGregor.

McGregor makes a comeback in round 3. He lands a jab on Khabib early and then foils a takedown attempt by the Champion. Khabib runs McGregor into the cage and briefly onto the canvas. Khabib lands a few right hands, but McGregor wins the round.

Khabib drops McGregor early in round 2. Khabib then lands some big right hands while atop McGregor. 

After almost 3 minutes on the canvas, McGregor makes it to his feet with 45 seconds left. Crowd is cheering him but it looks like Khabib is leading the fight so far.

McGregor starts with a right hand to Khabib's right. Khabib goes for a takedown and puts McGregor up against the cage. McGregor strugles to make it to his feet as Khabib begins to land some strikes.

It's official! Derrick Lewis detonated an overhand right on Alexander Volkov’s jaw, scoring a stoppage with 11 seconds left in the fight. Lewis was losing the entire fight and turned it around.
