Ranbir Kapoor to play Sourav Ganguly, Anushka Sharma as Jhulan Goswami: Look at some upcoming biopics on sportstars

BBCI president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that soon a biopic will be made on his life. The former team India captain revealed that the film will be made in Hindi, however, the director has not been confirmed yet.

While speaking to News18, Ganguly said, "Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything."

According to Dada, finalising of the actor is almost done and Ranbir Kapoor is the 'hot choice' to play the role. He, however, mentioned that two more actors are on the list as well to play his character.

Bollywood actress-producer Anushka Sharma and Netflix have come together to bring to the screens the incredibly inspiring story of Jhulan Goswami in a new film, titled 'Chakda Xpress'. 

The film will trace the journey of Jhulan Goswami, as she moves up the ladder despite the countless hindrances posed by misogynistic politics to fulfil her only dream: to play cricket.

The legendary Badminton player who is also the Chief National Coach of the Indian team - Pullela Gopichand's biopic was planned in 2017. 

The movie was decided to be produced by Fox Studios and Abundantia Entertainment starring Sudheer Babu - who is a former badminton player and was roped in owing to his aptness for the role. 

While the biopic is yet to be titled, it was planned for a multi-lingual release. The screening of the movie has been delayed twice and the movie was decided to be filmed in two parts. 

Mithali Raj - Captain of the Indian women's cricket team - is having a biopic narrating her tale being made. The fable of the girl from Hyderabad who went on to change the way, women's cricket is perceived is the most sought-after movie of the year.  

The movie is starring Tapsee Pannu. The actress had earlier played the role of a hockey player in the Soorma. The movie directed by Rahul Dholakia will be backed by Viacom 18.

Pannu had taken to her social media and announced the successful wrap-up and even quoted some famous lines from the movie and even cheered for the ICC Women's World Cup 2022.

Inspired by the true story of Syed Abdul Rahim, 'Maidaan' will talk about the journey of one of the finest coaches from India, the one who also put India on the global map.

Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, the film features National award-winning actress Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and well-known Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh.

Produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, and Arunava Joy Sengupta, the screenplay and dialogues are written by Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah respectively. 

PV Sindhu, who became the first Indian to seize a BWF Championship, has aroused many speculations amidst the public with her biopic. Sonu Sood, who gained the official rights for filming the biopic in 2017, has got everyone talking.

The movie went abuzz when Pullela Gopichand, the National Coach announced his favour of Akshay Kumar playing his role while PV Sindhu cast her votes for Deepika Padukone to essay her role. 

With no final decisions on the cast, made the movie is expected to be going on screens this year.
