WWE Royal Rumble 2019: It was a night of surprises and expectations as The Road to Wrestlemania 35 began with WWE's first pay-per-view of 2019- Royal Rumble. The WWE Royal Rumble 2019 featured two Royal Rumble matches where the 30 superstars vied for the chance to have a shot at headlining Wrestlemania. Both the men and women battled it out in the traditional 30-competitor, over-the-top-rope Royal Rumble matches. The winners now will face the champion of his or her choice on The Grandest Stage of Them All in April.
Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch overcame big obstacles to win the main events. WWE did not tinker much with the title picture as only two title out of seven on the line changed hands.
One of the big news coming just before the match was the injury to John Cena who was replaced by Braun Strowman in the Men's 30-man Royal Rumble match.

2. WWE Royal Rumble 2019: John Cena ruled out due to ankle injury

WWE Royal Rumble 2019: Bad News for John Cena fans! The leader of Cenation has been ruled out of the Royal Rumble due to an ankle injury. WWE confirmed the news on their official website less than four hours before the event. Cena sustained the ankle injury during a fatal four-way match on Raw two weeks ago in which Finn Balor won the right to face Universal champion Brock Lesnar at tonight's show.
3. Braun Strowman to replace John Cena

WWE Royal Rumble 2019: Braun Strowman will replace the injured John Cena in the Men's Royal Rumble Match. John Cena has been ruled out with an ankle injury, per WWE.com. Strowman tweeted his approval soon after the news came out.

Strowman will now be one of the favourites to win the match along with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre.

This is the 32nd Royal Rumble event. 26 people have won the Royal Rumble so far. Stone Cold Steve Austin has won the match 3 times while John Cena, Randy Orton, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Batista and Hulk Hogan have won it two times. Asuka won the first Women's Royal Rumble last year.
Longest time in a single Royal Rumble belongs to Rey Mysterio with 62:12 minutes, However, Daniel Bryan lasted 76:16 minutes in the 2018 Greatest Royal Rumble. Rey Mysterio will appear in this year's Royal Rumble Match and already has the fourth-most combined ring time in Royal Rumble match history. If Mysterio can last 23 minutes, he will join Chris Jericho as the only superstars to spend more than four hours combined in the ring in Royal Rumble matches.
At last year's Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, Braun Strowman set the record for most eliminations in a single Rumble with 13, breaking Reigns' record of 12 in 2014. Kane holds the record for most career eliminations with 42.

WWE Royal Rumble 2019: This was inserted in the kick off show after Draka Maverick had 'discussion' with Vince McMahon. Dawson from The Revival and Rezar from AOP came together for a chance to become tag team contenders in future.
Rezar dominated the match with his strength. The makeshift team isolated Gable.

Roode finally came in off the hot tag and cleared the ring momentarily.

Roode and Gable tackled Rezar out of the ring. Dawson tried to roll up Gable but he kicked out and tagged Roode back in. Roode and Gable hit their double team finisher for the win.

Rusev started the attack on Shinsuke. Shin countered with an Irish whip into the steps and hit a kick to the head. Both treaded blows and some near-falls.

Lana was on apron yelling at Nakamura for removing the turnbuckle pad. Rusev ended up knocking her off by mistake. Nakamura hits Kinshasa from behind to get the pin.

7. Buddy Murphy vs Hideo Itami vs Kalisto vs Tozawa

Itami rolls out of the ring and the other three take turns rolling each other up for one counts. Mruphy counters a hurricanrana but gets taken down by a second one. He catches Kalisto jumping off the apron and hits a suplex on the floor. Hideo gets back in the ring and dares Murphy to come at him. They trade takedowns and kicks to the back. All four men participate in an awesome spot at ringside that sees Murphy, Kalisto and Tozawa hit the floor hard.

Tozawa plants Murphy with a reverse hurricanrana. All four men attempt pinfalls in quick succession. Murphy hits Itami with a few hard knee strikes and Murphy's Law for the pin and the win.

Shane tackles Sheamus right after the bell to start off hot. Miz and Cesaro tag in and trade near falls.

Shane stacks up Cesaro and Sheamus in the corner for Coast to Coast, but Cesaro pops up and catches him for a Big Swing.

Shane locks Cesaro in a triangle submission until Sheamus breaks it up. The Miz kicks Sheamus out of the ring . Miz shoves Cesaro into a Brogue Kick and hits Sheamus with the Skull Crushing Finale. Shane heads up to the top and hits a shooting star press for the pin and the win.

The Champ and The Boss They get in each other's faces. They trade counters and Rousey mocks The Boss with her own pose. Banks slaps her in the face and Ronda kicks her right out of the ring. She misses an elbow and hits the ring post hard enough to break the LED display. Sasha lays her out with a suicide dive.

Sasha attacks Rousey's injured arm. Rowdy Ronda ends up in the Bank Statement but manages to escape and hit Piper's Pit. They trade some near falls. Ronda climbs up the rope but Banks climbs up with her to deliver a superplex for a near fall.

Rousey ends up making Sasha tap outside the ring. The Boss back into the ring and works her over with lefts and rights. Banks sends her into the bottom turnbuckle and drops a knee on her injured arm. Sasha counters Piper's Pit and locks in the Bank Statement with some help from part of her ring gear.

Banks is forced to transition into a Fujiwara armbar and Rousey counters with a gutwrench suplex. She grabs Banks and hits Piper's Pit one more time for the pin and the win.

WWE Royal Rumble 2019 Results: Becky Lynch entered the Royal Rumble last taking the place of injured Lana. Charlotte, who entered at 13 and Nia Jaxx were the last three left. After Charlotte and Becky combined to eliminate, The Man was injured by Jaxx. A limping Becky got back in the ring and battled it out with Flair. She eliminated Charlotte to book to place in Wrestlemania 35.

AJ Styles started on the attack and Bryan repeatedly retreated outside to escape the beating. They traded strikes for a while before Bryan dumped AJ over the top turnbuckle. They exchanged pinning combinations before Styles goes after the champ's leg. Rowan suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He waited at the ringside meanwhile Styles hit a styles-clash. With the official down, Rowan choke slammed AJ. Bryan got the pin to retain the title.

Finn Balor hits a running dropkick to start the match. He keeps hitting the champion with a flurry of strikes. Lesnar regains his composure to throw Balor out with a belly to belly suplex. Balor tries to keep up his offense but Lesnar takes Balor on a trip to Suplex City.

Balor hits the coup-de-grace for another 2-count. Lesnar then locks the Kimura lock and Balor has to tap out. After the win a frustated Brock Lesnar delivered couple of suplexes to Balor followed by a F5.

WWE Royal Rumble 2019 Results: Bobby Lashley entered at 26 was eliminated by Seth Rollins. He took revenge by putting Rollins through a table. Strowman cleared the field while Dolph Ziggler took out Drew McIntyre. Nia Jaxx inserted herself in the match after attacking R-Truth. She eliminated fan favourite Mustafa Ali.

Jaxx ate a superkick from Ziggler, 619 from Mysterio and RKO from Randy Orton before being eliminated. Mysterio and Orton were soon eliminated. Seth Rollins returned while Strowman sent Ziggler and Andrade out.
