Lionel Messi's Argentina are all set to square off against Robert Lewandowski's Poland in the final round of Group C in FIFA World Cup 2022 on Thursday, for a place in the round of 16. Messi's Argentina endured a defeat against Saudi Arabia in their first match, but bounced back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Mexico.
They are currently second in Group C, but face a daunting prospect in Poland, who are currently leading the group with 4 points, and Lewandowski would certainly fancy the chance of eliminating Messi and Co.
In the other Group C match, Saudi Arabia, who are level on points with Argentina will square off against Mexico, with both sides needing a win to progress into the round of 16.
All four teams are in contention for the knockout rounds, but only two teams can progress. All eyes will be on the two forward, Messi and Lewandowski.
Nothing but a win will do the job for Argentina who cannot afford any more slip-ups, whereas, even a draw will be enough to take Lewandowski's Poland through. Saudi Arabia will be hoping to repeat the heroics of their opening group game to further hurt a Mexican side that would be low on confidence.
It's all to play for in Group C with two mouth-watering games and with the whole of world supporting Messi in perhaps his final World Cup appearance, can the great man keep his dream alive?
