Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson has described the 2009-10 Premier League as one of the maddest and craziest that he has ever experienced.

Fergie was speaking after watching his side close the gap on leaders Chelsea to two points with victory at Hull.

It meant United leapfrogged Arsenal to reclaim second spot in the table two-and-a-half hours after the Gunners had crushed fourth-placed Aston Villa 3-0.

"It's looking different, that's for sure.  There are some unusual results going around and come the second half of the season, it's looking like a very tight league. Experience will be important. And in the run-in, teams who have been there all the time - Chelsea, Arsenal, ourselves have that. And, the team that stays clear of injuries will also have an advantage,” The Sun quoted Fergie, as saying.

"I'm hopeful we will have all our injured defenders back by the time the European campaign starts again, that will be important to us. If you make mistakes in this league you are going to get punished and whoever eradicates mistakes will have a great chance. But seeing what is happening around us we've got to see this as a step forward today," he added.
