Pak skipper Younis Khan says the Jaipur crowd played a big role in his team’s turnaround victory

JAIPUR: After all that he had to go through recently, Younis Khan must be finally feeling vindicated. His team had defied all odds to score a memorable win over Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

“It’s a team victory. I had said this even yesterday that we had to play positive cricket and that is what we did,” explained Younis. “There was a bit of pressure going into the match because we knew had we lost a lot of questions would have been asked.”

The Pakistan captain said the turning point of the match was the way his team came back after the initial 10 overs and admitted the vociferous crowd, which backed Pakistan throughout the match, was a factor in his team’s success. “Yes, the crowd was simply great. There’s great support for Pakistan in India and vice versa and we usually play good cricket here because of this reason,” he said.

But at the moment of glory, there was someone Younis missed. “We definitely missed Inzy as a skipper and as a batsman. He’s someone I’ve grown up emulating and he’ll always remain the captain even if I win this tournament.”
