Mitchell Johnson's bouncer hit Virat Kohli on the helmet on Day 3 and left him rattled.

Australian spinner Nathan Lyon revealed that he got 'frightened' when a bouncer by pacer Mitchell Johnson hit India's stand-in skipper Virat Kohli on the helmet, on the third day of the first Test match in Adelaide.

Lyon stated that his heart 'skipped a beat' particularly for players who played for New South Wales, when late cricketer Phillip Hughes was hit by a bouncer on the neck in a Sheffield Shield game in November. He asked if they were doing 'okay', adding that they all reached towards Kohli immediately after the hit, Sport24 reported.

The spinner believes that one of the positives to emerge out of the incident was the fact that helmets actually do work, indicating that it could 'boost confidence' of bowlers to bowl bouncers again. Virat Kohli went on to score a fighting 115 as India amassed 369 for the loss of five wickets at the close of the third day's play.
