The technical committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has asked chief coach Bob Houghton to submit a detailed report on India’s performance in the recently concluded Asian Cup, which was held in Doha, Qatar.
The technical committee met at the Football House in New Delhi on Wednesday to review India’s performance at the continental championship, where the Houghton-coached side lost all three matches and bowed out in the group stage of the tournament.
“We have to look at what he (Houghton) has to say. It was always going to be a Herculean task for the team to even garner a point at the Asian Cup, given the draw we had been handed. We have asked Houghton to submit his report in one week, only then we can take this forward,” chairman of the technical committee CR Viswanathan told DNA.
Sources said the committee wasn’t happy with the results, considering the amount that was spent in the team’s training, but Viswanathan refused to comment on it.
The technical committee comprises of former international Inder Singh, Krisnaji Rao, Pradeep Chowdhury - who was removed as India’s manager days ahead of the Asian Cup after a spat with Houghton - and Brahmanand Shankwalker.
