Phogat, who won the gold medal in 50 kg freestyle wrestling, become the only Indian women wrestler to win the gold at Asian Games.

After her victory, a newspaper published a report that claimed that a love story was brewing between her and India's flag bearer at the opening ceremony Neeraj Chopra.

On Wednesday, Vinesh shared an image of the report which featured an image of Neeraj coming to watch her gold medal match and suggested that the two premier Indian athletes may be coming close.

Vinesh quashed the report saying it was just a gesture of encouragement by a fellow athlete and it pained her to see that it had been painted in the wrong light.

“Really sad to see that a simple gesture of being present when one athlete is chasing glory for #India is painted in the wrong light Myself and @Neeraj_chopra1 and every other Indian athlete will support each other to ALWAYS make  proud, nothing more! Thank you.”

Neeraj also reacted to the report. He wrote that he was there to boost the boost the morale of a fellow athlete. He said that every real sportsperson would do the same.
