Asian Games 2023: Sarabjot Singh, Divya Subbaraju clinch silver in mixed 10m air rifle pistol event

This achievement marks India's 19th medal in shooting at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

The Indian shooting duo of Sarabjot Singh and Divya Subbaraju clinched a remarkable silver medal in the mixed 10m air rifle pistol team event at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou on Saturday. Despite their impressive performance, India fell just two points short of the gold medal, which was claimed by China with a total of 16 points.

This achievement marks India's 19th medal in shooting at the Hangzhou Asian Games, solidifying the country's exceptional performance in this sport at the continental event. With this victory, India's overall medal tally in the games has now reached an impressive 34, comprising of eight gold, 13 silver, and 13 bronze medals.

In a separate event, Indian shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar continued to shine at the Hangzhou Asian Games, securing a well-deserved silver medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions individual final on Friday.

Aishwary showcased his exceptional skills and determination, accumulating a total of 459.7 points to secure the silver medal. The gold medal was awarded to China's Linshu Du, who set a new Asian Games record with a total of 460.6 points. Meanwhile, China's Jiaming Tian claimed the bronze medal with 448.3 points.

The 17-year-old Palak achieved an impressive feat by securing a gold medal in the 10m air pistol women's individual final on Friday. Not only did she win the gold, but she also set a new Asian Games record in her category, surpassing China's record from 2018. Palak's individual score of 242.1 points showcased her exceptional talent and determination.

Esha Singh, an 18-year-old shooter, also showcased her skills by winning the silver medal with 239.7 points. This marked her fourth medal of the games, highlighting her consistent performance in Hangzhou.

In another remarkable achievement, the men's trio of Swapnil Kusal, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, and Akhil Sheoran clinched a gold medal in the 50m rifle men's 3P event. Their collective score of 1769 points secured the gold for Team India. This victory was even more significant as it broke the world record of 1761 points held by the USA since the previous year.

The shooting trio of Esha Singh, Palak, and Divya Subbaraju continued India's dominant run in shooting by securing a silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle pistol team final. Their combined efforts earned them a total of 1731 points, falling just five points short of the gold medal won by China with 1736 points. Chinese Taipei secured the bronze medal with 1723 points.
