The East Bengal star refused to stick his neck out but did say that the game is about luck and whoever does well on that particular day, will win.

With only a few months to go for football’s quadrennial showpiece in South Africa, the million-dollar question is already doing the rounds — who will win the 2010 World Cup?

India captain Baichung Bhutia, in the city for a promotional event, was predictably asked the question at a suburban hotel on Wednesday.

The East Bengal star refused to stick his neck out but did say that the game is about luck and whoever does well on that particular day, will win.

“Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Brazil and Argentina are some of the good teams who stand a chance,” said the India captain.
He, however, admitted that his money is on five-time champions Brazil.

“Brazil always do well. They will get used to the environment and the climate. They have a great team and should go all the way.”

Bollywood actor and a football enthusiast, John Abraham, who was also present at the event, is rooting for Spain. “Spain is my favourite and they have a chance to do well,” he said.

The Indian football team had a gone for a training camp in Dubai and Baichung said it was a good experience.

“We wanted to play against the UAE, Oman national team but could not because they were busy with their own league. It was a nice camp and quite a learning experience.

“We are improving and going in the right direction step by step. In 2011 we have the Asia Cup. I think we will be ready to play Australia and others in few years,” he added.
