To cash on the World Cup extravaganza in South Africa, bar owners in Bloemfontein are ready to flout religious rules and serve booze to fans during the England-Germany encounter on Sunday.
England fans feared they would have to go without booze for the clash against Germany, as more than 80% of bars and restaurants usually shut on Sundays in the deeply conservative South African city.
But local business owners said they would ignore the unwritten law and make sure both sets of fans were supplied with booze, The Mirror reports.
A barman at the Famous Butchers Grill: "Of course we'll be serving alcohol. We've got the English and the Germans coming - if we were closed we'd deserve to go out of business."
England fan Adrian Dormer said: "We'd heard a horrible rumour it would be dry there, so we're happy there will be ale."
