In a late evening development, BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya was rushed to the B M Birla Hospital with severe chest pain on Thursday. While reports of him suffering a massive cardiac arrest have surfaced, the doctors remained tight-lipped about  his condition.

A medical bulletin by the doctors is likely to be announced on Friday morning. "He had been admitted to the hospital around evening with severe chest pain. We are making him go through several tests and is presently undergoing treatment," said a senior doctor of the hospital, who refused to be named.

On several occasions, questions have been raised about his ill-health. He has Alzheimer's disease and several other health complications as a result of which he has not been able to attend office for the past few months after taking over as the BCCI chief in March this year.

Dalmiya was appointed the interim president of the BCCI in June 2013, when N Srinivasan stepped down. Srinivasan returned as the president in October 2013. On March 2015, Dalmiya became the president of the BCCI again after a 10-year gap. He was also the President of the ICC from 1997 to 2000.
