Bharat Chettri to lead Indian hockey team in London

Goalkeeper Bharat Chettri will lead the 18-member Indian hockey team for the four-nation Olympic test event in London May 2-6.

Selection trials were conducted at SAI Centre, Bangalore, April 8-9, by Hockey India (HI) selectors BP Govinda and Balbir Singh alongwith government observer Harbinder Singh.

Besides hosts Britain and India, Australia and Germany are the other participating teams.

The tournament will give India an opportunity to play against higher ranked teams who have also qualified for the Olympic Games.

The tournament will be played on the blue artificial turf with yellow balls. The pitch has pink runaways.
