Use car pools, Metro or public transport -- this is the advice given by Delhi Police to officials working in various government offices in Lodhi Colony near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main venue of Commonwealth Games.

Delhi Police has also prohibited the running of buses or other vehicles of paramilitary forces on the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium road.

In an advisory issued today, Delhi Police have made elaborate plans for movement of vehicles around the stadium. This arrangement will affect traffic bound for CGO Complex, Electronic Niketan, Soochna Bhawan, Scope Building, MTNL, Pragati Vihar and Lodhi Colony Type-V residential complex.

"In view of traffic restrictions, officials are requested to use car pools, Metro trains and public transport to avoid congestion in the area," Satyendra Garg, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said.

The restrictions will come into effect from tomorrow.

"No buses or paramilitary forces heavy vehicles will be allowed to move on the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium road. They are instructed to move on Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and Lodhi Road and drop passengers at petrol pump and near the bus stand on Lodhi Road, NBCC respectively," Garg said.

The vehicles having parking labels issued by the Security Wing of the concerned office will be allowed to enter the office complexes and be parked inside, he said.

Labelled vehicles in excess of the parking space meant for the particular office complex and un-labelled vehicles will not be allowed to enter in the parking.

No vehicle shall be allowed to be parked on Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium Road, Scope, CGO or MTNL road.

The residents of Type-V flats at Lodhi Road will be allowed entry from Lodhi Colony side taking left turn on Bhishma Pitamah Marg and will have to enter and exit on Bhishma Pitamah Marg and take left turn to Vardhman Marg, Garg said.
