LONDON: Former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns' lawyer has denied media reports that the cricketer, who was suspended by the Indian Cricket League (ICL), is involved in match-fixing.
Cairns, who was leading the Chandigarh Lions team in the Twenty20 tournament, was suspended, along with his team-mate Dinesh Mongia, by the Executive Board of the ICL on disciplinary grounds.
South African all-rounder Andrew Hall then replaced Cairns as the Chandigarh Lions' captain.
Asked whether Cairns had been involved in match-fixing, his lawyer, Andrew Fitch-Holland, replied "No."
"I've seen no statement from the ICL to that effect. And I would be very surprised if you could find anyone at the ICL who would say that," Andrew was quoted as saying by 'Daily Telegraph'.
