MUMBAI: In the wake of the Jaipur serial bomb blasts, the DLF Indian Premier League on Wednesday banned carry-bags at all venues where the cricket matches are to be played.
Following an advisory from various security and intelligence agencies, DLF IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi Wednesday decided to implement the ban in all matches, especially at Saturday's match in Jaipur, a communiqué from DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) said.
Modi said the match between Rajasthan Royals and Bangalore Royal Challengers will take place in Jaipur as per schedule. The security for the match and at the stadium will be heightened.
A spokesperson of the DLF IPL said that the ban will be applicable in all stadiums wherever matches are scheduled to be played.
Modi urged the law enforcing and investigating agencies "to hunt down the terrorists who have no religion except to take lives of innocent people". "The perpetrators of these dastardly acts be meted out exemplary punishments," he added.
