Seeking more information from IPL franchisee Kings XI Punjab, the Central excise department has asked its owner KPH Dreams to provide entire details of its earnings from second and third editions of IPL to determine the quantum of service tax.
"We have asked the company (KPH Dreams) to give us the details of their earnings during the second and third editions of IPL," a senior official of Central excise department (Chandigarh), said.
The department has written a fresh letter to the company asking it to furnish the required details. "After getting details, we will scrutinise the records and find out the service tax liability," he said.
IPL's second season was held in South Africa in 2009 and the third edition has just concluded in the country.
The department had earlier slapped a show cause notice on KPH Dreams, seeking the payment of total service tax to the tune of Rs5.38 crore for earnings during the first season of IPL matches.
