Viswanathan Anand had a day’s break as he had a bye in the second round of the London Chess Classic on Sunday. Anand, however, enjoyed the games from the sidelines as he was assisting the commentary team.

In Round 2, Vladimir Kramnik defeated Nigel Short, Levon Aronian lost to Hikaru Nakamura, Magnus Carlsen salvaged a draw against Luke McShane while David Howell and Michael Adams ended the day with the honours shared.

Carlsen, Kramnik and Nakamura have emerged joint leaders with four points each followed by Adams and McShane on two points. Anand, Aronian and Howell have logged one point each but Anand has a game on hand.
