'Unfortunate comments have been made by the reporter. Reports tell us that he has been suspended and an apology has been made,' Hooper told reporters in New Delhi.

Commonwealth Games CEO Mike Hooper today termed as "unfortuante" the comments made by a New Zealand TV anchor against Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

"Unfortunate comments have been made by the reporter. Reports tell us that he has been suspended and an apology has been made," Hooper told reporters in New Delhi.

He said New Zealand is a great country and he would advise Indians to visit the country.

Kiwi anchor Paul Henry, already under suspension over a race row involving the Indian-origin governor general of New Zealand, had courted controversy on Thursday by deliberately twisting Dikshit's name to make fun of her.

The clip was posted by The TVNZ channel. Angered by the TV anchor's comment, the ministry of external affairs had yesterday summoned New Zealand high commissioner Rupert Holborow telling him that such remarks were unacceptable.
