Cricket Australia will call an emergency board meeting within a week to discuss the ICC’s refusal to accept Howard and expects New Zealand Cricket will do the same.

Cricket Australia has said that it may resubmit the name of former prime minister John Howard as a candidate for president-elect of the International Cricket Council.

According to Fox Sports and The Australian, Cricket Australia will call an emergency board meeting within a week to discuss the ICC’s refusal to accept Howard and expects New Zealand Cricket will do the same.

“We have not ruled anything out. We are not making any comment on names or processes until the board meeting,” a Cricket Australia spokesperson told The Australian today.

The ICC has ignored its electoral process by asking Australia and New Zealand to resubmit its joint nomination after rejecting the former prime minister at yesterday's board meeting in Singapore.
