Defending champion Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland won the opening individual time trial stage of the Tour of Switzerland on Saturday.
Second behind the Saxo Bank rider in the 7.6 km time trial starting and finishing in Lugano was Czech Roman Kreuziger with German Tony Martin in third.
American Lance Armstrong finished off the pace, nearly 30 seconds back.
The Tour ends on June 20th in Liestal.
